With health reform in the US, should the people of the US be called Americans, Americant’s or Ameriwon’ts?
FACT - Insurance companies in the USA admit to pushing up prices, buying politicians and not paying out claims when they should [1]
FACT - PER PERSON the USA spends more on healthcare than any other nation on the planet [2]
FACT - Obama debated his plans before the election for healthcare [3]
FACT - the chance of a child under five of dying in the USA is greater than industrialised nations with universal health coverage [4]
FACT - Obama was elected by the American people to bring in change [5]
FACT - Obama wants to stop insurance companies from screwing American’s [6]
FACT - The reforms Obama wants work in the Netherlands and Switzerland [7]
Let me know if my facts are wrong, but please provide proof.

No. The beauty of American government is that the people can & should speak out if the leaders they elected aren’t passing legislation that is for the good of the people. People protested the war in Iraq, and people are protesting Obamacare.
The quality of health care in America surpasses nations with universal coverage, and rationing isn’t a reality as it would be otherwise.
Reform of the system, specifically opening up competition amongst the insurance companies, would enable people to purchase the plan of their choice and would lower costs, without sacrificing quality.

The only true way to solve the health insurance problems that we face is for Socialized Universal Health Care like they have in Canada.
They don’t ration care or make you wait for surgeries. If this were true then don’t you think Canada would have gotten rid of the system..

I’ve long stopped caring about this. When the Repubs were ragging on the NHS I was pissed off, but now I no longer care. I’m not American. What does it bother me if Americans want other Americans to die in poverty because of their fucked up conception of what ‘liberty’ means? Not my problem.
With a bit of luck, they’ll all soon be too sick to lead our troops into pointless foreign wars. Fewer Americans is not necessarily a bad thing.

The reason it works in countries such as the Netherlands and Switzerland is they have aa income tax rate 52% and 29.1%.
Also if you look at their population Switzerland has a population of 7,604,467 avg age of 41 with a literacy rate of 99%. With highly skilled workforce and one of the highest per capita GDP. Unemployment of only 2.6%. HIV/AIDS at 0.6%
The Netherlands has a population of 16,715,999 with an avg age of 40.4 and also a 99% literacy rate. They have a large workforce working in the industry of food processing and chemicals, petro refining and electrical machinery with a huge surplus of exports. A GDP of approx 40.4k per capita. Unemployment at 4%. HIV/AIDS at 0.2%.
Compare that to the US where we have a population of 307,212,123, actual unemployment at 10%+. Less than 50% actually pay income taxes. There are over 1.2 million people with HIV/AIDS. Labor force of only 154.3 million. So basically half of Americans dont work. 12% are below poverty line. We have the largest stock of quasi money at 8.171 trillion. A natioanl debt of 13.64 trillion dollars.
All this summed up America with such a small percentage of taxpayers and such a large debt cant afford to pay for every American citizen to have healthcare insurance (not to mention the millions of illegals drawing and large minority population).

And they are both so small that a baby could spit across Netherlands or Switzerland. Even though these two nations are so small, I sometimes wonder who is really paying to keep their servants so complacent…the people or international bankers.
Meanwhile, I recommend using an aircraft to cross the USA,.you would have to pucker up good to spit across the USA. As for all of the problems in the USA, I suspect that the institutions that seek sanctuary in Netherlands and Switzerland’s prosper from unscrupulous oligarchies owned by the surviving monarchs and aristocrats still living there. Had you selected two other nations, I would have focused better upon your question.
We will still be called Americans when the plums from mushroom clouds rise above these sanctuaries for the greedy elites of Netherlands and Switzerlands.
